The parent company; i.e. Kesar Enterprises Ltd., is a multi divisional & multi-locational Co., having various business units under it's umbrella, which are classified into Manufacturing, Service & Trading.

The management of the Company, since inception has been in the hands of the Kilachand Family. Mr. Harsh R. Kilachand is currently the Chairman and Managing Director of the Company & is assisted by well qualified highly experienced professionals.

Manufacturing of Sugar from sugarcane has been the primary activity of the Company. The Company’s sugar factory is located in Baheri, District Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh.

Rectified Spirit

In 1949, KEL set up a Distillation Plant in order to effectively harness molasses, a by-product generated by its sugar factory. The distillery which had an initial capacity of 11000 litres per day (lpd), is now producing 45000 litres of Rectified Spirit per day. The distillery employs one of the most modern and highly sophisticated process of continuous fermentation of molasses, which not only gives higher yields but also produces finest quality of spirit.

Extra Natural Alcohol

As a first step in the direction of entering into the potable Alcohol Segment, in 1992, KEL set up a 20000 lpd re-distillation plant to distill Extra Neutral Alcohol. The product is of finest quality and find its way into some of the best alcoholic beverages produced in the country.

Country Liquor

In 1992, KEL innovatively introduced a spiced Country Liquor (CL) product branded as ‘Basanti’ and commenced supplies in its home District, Bareilly. The product has been very well appreciated by the consumers and in a short span of 4 years, today, KEL supplies well over 110 lakh litres of CL (equivalent to about 1.2 million cases) per annum.

Indian Made Foreign Liquor

With commendable success in the field of CL, KEL also ventured into manufacturing of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and developed and test marketed some of the products earlier last year. The response being very encouraging, the products have been commercially launched in the Northern Region in June, 1995. Further, in order to make a national presence. KEL also acquired the Bombay based, Amber Distilleries Pvt. Ltd. In 1995, through which it intends to cover the major liquor markets of Western & Southern states of India.

In 1960, seven distilleries in Uttar Pradesh formed Distiller’s Trading Corporation (DTC) Private Limited to export molasses/ alcohol out of Uttar Pradesh and India. For this purpose, two storage tanks were set up at Kandla (Gujarat), near the jetty on a land given by the Kandla Port Trust. KEL purchased out the shares of other distilleries and made DTC a subsidiary, and later on a division of its own, through amalgamation. The facilities are now being used for Storage and Handling of Bulk Liquid Cargo being imported into the country. As like other divisions of the Company. DTC Division also, over a period of time, increased the number of tanks to 40 with a capacity of 75000 KL. The facilities are very much appreciated and are used extensively by clients like Mafatlal, Reliance, IPCL, Nirma, STC etc. to name a few.

With a well established infrastructure at Kandla Port and years of experience in storage & handling business of bulk liquid cargo, it was natural of KEL to venture into Global Trading Operations. In late 1980’s when Govt. again allowed export of Alcohols, KEL took the opportunity and undertook export of app. 71500 MT of alcohol during the period 1989-94. The Govt. of India also could not overlook this achievement and awarded the Company the status of ‘Recognised Export House.’

Today, with the opening of economy and with couple of transactions already under its belt, KEL also started importing liquid chemicals in bulk quantity for sale & distribution in domestic market.
